Michael Thompson

Jane and Michael first worked together at Telewest in 1997 and have collaborated on several private and public sector projects since then, including a European funded initiative to support collaborative trading for rural craft and design businesses.

Michael’s in depth understanding of the role that technology can play in economic and business development makes him the ideal partner in showing businesses how to apply technology and new media tools to achieve successful marketing outcomes.

He is the founder of Local Sourcing Ltd. and has been working on strategy development and project implementation for the Leicester Shire Economic Partnership since 2003. He was responsible for the Leicester City Growth strategy and for its subsequent implementation. He also implemented the Leicestershire Broadband Fund and an e-academy business support scheme for SMEs.

Michael is the technical brain behind our Talking Heads programme.

An experienced and skillful project  manager and facilitator, Michael previously spent 15 years in Singapore, Brazil and Sierra Leone with the British Council with responsibility for technology and cultural exchanges.

Michael is a member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply and the Association for Project Management and holds a Masters degree in Education.
