Jane Heaton Associates – key people

Jane Heaton is a marketing and communications professional who works on a project or interim basis with companies and organisations of all sizes.

Some clients and projects require more than one individual - either because of the size and scope of the project, or because they ask for a “one stop shop” solution comprising multiple skills and outputs. Jane therefore has strong relationships with a small number of other, trusted independent professionals who work well together, can deliver to the same high standards and who can join project teams as and when needed.

As a client, you will be working on a one-to-one basis with Jane and can be assured of the quality and commitment of other dedicated professionals if and when you require them. We are equally happy to work with your own in-house specialists and external agencies and suppliers.
Jane created Jane Heaton Associates in 2000 in this way to offer clients the best and most appropriate marketing solution for their needs in the most cost effective and robust way.

“Clients value the relationship they have with me because they are getting their own, first class, flexible marketing resource. Lone freelancers can be a risk because they’re juggling all the balls and they have no back up and agency experiences can be disappointing.” says Jane. “The fee clients’ pay equates directly to the expertise, skill, and time they are buying because we don’t have large overheads – we are all home-based, and maximise the use of technology where it’s appropriate to do so.”

More About Jane Heaton

Jane has wide and varied experience working within many different business environments. A member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (Chartered Marketer), she has developed hands on skills and managed teams across a comprehensive range of marketing activities. This includes marketing planning, market research and analysis, brand management, marketing communications, event management and public relations, as well as customer service and account management. She has strong communication skills and is a talented commercial writer.

Before setting out on an independent path in 2000, Jane’s marketing career spanned the energy, telecommunications, publishing, and learning and development industries, including companies such as Shell, Telewest, Cable & Wireless, and the Express & Star newspaper group. She now manages a diverse portfolio.

Working with bigger businesses

In her work with larger organisations, Jane specialises in helping senior managers and marketing teams get things done during periods of change. Government agencies, public sector organisations and private businesses have all called on Jane’s strategic planning and marketing skills.

Each year she is available to work on a small number of assignments on a project or regular part-time basis. She relishes working in-house, usually to deliver specific areas of marketing, business or programme development, combining her project and people management skills.

She also fills interim senior resourcing gaps and can be retained as an independent mentor for marketing people, often when they are moving to new roles, are taking on new responsibilities or when in career transition.
