This week I was invited to attend a womens lunch at a local hotel where the main event was a fashion show .... by Viyella. A well known brand for sure, but one that had me wrinkling up my nose in a slightly bemused way. I settled back, coffee in hand, expecting to see a parade of matronly suits and frocks reminincent of a bygone era ... well, I was in for a surprise.
Did I honestly expect a fashion brand that at least I still noticed on the high street to have stayed in the dark ages? Of course not. Ok, there was the ocassional item that reminded me of great aunt agatha at a garden party, but mostly I was impressed.
I of all people should know that you only endure through change and innovation. And here was a lesson learned ... never base your judgement on outdated perception ... always be prepared to take a fresh look.
People, places, life, the world and everything in it change all the time. We survive and thrive by adapting. This was in fact my theme for my mini workshop at the first ever reunion of Cotswold Women in Business ... how to keep yourself and your marketing going once you've cleared the initial hurdles of start-up ... clarity, adaptability and perseverance were my watchwords!
So, from now on I'm sure to be taking a new look at contacts, relationships, and activities that I may have dismissed at some earlier point in time ... and I'm prepared to be pleasantly surprised. Twitter, here I come ...

A couple of weeks ago I went along to THE Store in Dunstable (the new hub for Central Bedfordshire College's
